The Perth Jazz Society (PJS) are proud to host an original jazz night featuring outstanding vocalist and National Jazz Award finalist Lucy Iffla and unique Harp Trio “Turiya”.
Lucy Iffla
Lucy (21), an establishing jazz vocalist is currently completing her final year of Jazz studies at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts. She was recently nominated as a finalist in for the National Jazz Award. Her love for Jazz came from the soulful sounds of Ella Fitzgerald, the memorable style of Anita O’Day and the captivating tone of local musician Allira Wilson. Playing alongside some incredible established musicians and WAAPA lecturers, including the WA Youth Jazz Orchestra, Lucy has developed her sound and showcases an elegant and timeless voice beyond her years.
Turiya
Turiya is Michelle Smith (harp), Kate Pass (double bass) and Talya Valenti (drums). Known for their work as individual artists, this project is an opportunity to combine jazz, contemporary and classical styles in a fresh new collaboration. The trio will present new compositions as well as music by harp legend Dorothy Ashby.
